17 April, 2025Pernod Ricard saw its organic net sales decline by 3% in the third quarter of fiscal 2025 driven by sharp declines in global travel retail. The channel saw declines of 31% driven by suspension of cognac in Chinese travel retail sites. Outside of the duty-free sector, China saw 5% declines driven by a sharp decline in Martell sales as tariffs on the cognac category persist in the region.

09 April, 2025For its tenth edition, Asia’s 50 Best Bars has announced that, for the first time, the ceremony will be held in Macau on 15 July 2025. The live awards ceremony, which will welcome the region’s leading cocktail and spirits talent, will be held at Macau’s Wynn Palace. The news follows last month’s announcement that The World’s 50 Best would be heading to Hong Kong, the location of the last two editions of the Asia’s 50 Best live ceremony.

Victims were defrauded into investing into Scotch whisky casks that were overpriced, did not exist, or were sold multiple times to separate investors.
According to the BBC report, the police are currently investigating three cask investment companies over fraud allegations valued into the millions of pounds.
In July 2024, the City of London Police launched an investigation into Cask Whisky Ltd, one of the companies named in the report.

It’s the first time since 2020 that the brand has topped the list having been runner-up spot in the rankings last year.
Italy’s Gaja, which moves up eight places on its previous ranking, took the runner’s up spot alongside the accolade of Most Admired Wine Brand in Europe, while veteran of the list La Rioja Alta completes the podium.
The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand is voted for by a hand-picked academy of sommeliers, buyers, wholesalers, Masters of Wine and writers.

In BBA agave spirits judging, it has historically been mezcals that most impress the judges, but this year has bucked that trend. Four of our top five agave spirits are tequilas, including the two best-performing brands. Moët Hennessy’s Blanco expression of Volcan was this year’s top of the drops and the only brand in the top five to be awarded a gold medal in the blind tasting.

18 March, 2025Campari Group has offloaded Howler Head whiskey to San Diego-based spirits group Infinium Spirits. Campari Group acquired a 15% stake in the banana-flavoured whiskey brand for an initial sum of $15 million in August 2022. Howler Head joins Inifinium’s portfolio which includes Templeton Rye, Corralejo Tequila, Tears of Llorona, Zaya Rum and Seagram’s Vodka. “We are beyond excited to welcome Howler Head to the Infinium family,” said Jan Tharp, president of Infinium Spirits.

Diageo backed the company from launch in 2013 and in the ensuing years has acquired Ritual Zero Proof, Mr Black, Seedlip, Kikori and Belsazar through the partnership. It is understood that the move has resulted in job losses. A spokesperson from Diageo said: “Following more than ten successful years partnering with Distill Ventures to nurture and scale emerging spirits brands, we have undertaken a strategic review of our approach to early-stage, venture investments.
