DiscussionTaking account of pre-existing preannouncement trends, this study found that 1 year after implementation of the SDIL, sugar purchased from all soft drinks combined that were taken home decreased by 8.0 g per household per week (or 2.7%), while volume increased by 188.8 mL per household per week (or 2.6%).
