The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said Consumer Prices Index (CPI) that inflation skyrocketed to 2.3% in October from 1.7% the month before, which is the highest level in two years. UK inflation rose due to an increase in household energy bills which is above the Bank of England’s target of 2% which could see interest rates being held in December.

For Road Safety Week, London lettings and estate agent, Benham and Reeves, has revealed where across the nation we clock up the most miles on our roads each year. Benham and Reeves analysed road usage based on the number of miles travelled by motor vehicles across the roads of each county in Britain on an annual basis*. The research shows that last year British motorists clocked up a whopping 330.8bn miles on the roads.

Hours after the US President Joe Biden authorised Kyiv to use the British made Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles, Ukraine has launched several deep inside Russia for the first time on Wednesday. On Wednesday parts of the Storm Shadow missile were found in the village of Marine in the Kurck region. It has been reported that Sir Keir Starmer was keen to allow Kyiv to use the missiles which has a range of 155 miles.

Ford will cut hundreds of jobs in the UK as part of a wider European overhaul and around 4,000 jobs will be lost. The car manufacturer said in the UK there will be 800 job losses and Britain and Germany will be impacted the most. Ford said this is to “create a more cost-competitive structure and ensure the long-term sustainability” in Europe for the company. Ford said they have had pressure from “lower-than-expected demand” for electric vehicles.
