House GOP leadership is seeking to block any efforts from members who want to rein in President Trump’s use of tariffs. In a coming procedural rule vote tied to the party’s budget plan, Republicans inserted language that would turn off any tariff resolutions from Wednesday through the end of September that would terminate Trump’s national emergency declaration on the matter. Congress has the ability to terminate national emergencies if there is enough support internally to do so.
