Brain injury charity Headway opens new charity shop in Derbyshire

The shop can be found at 47 High Street West, Glossop, and opened on Monday, August 19. Every year, around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury. That's one every 90 seconds. Brain injuries can be sustained in several ways, including as a result of a stroke, brain tumour, or accident.
Derbyshire council launches new road repair material trial for fixing potholes

The council is using Roadmender Asphalt which is produced nearby in Sheffield. The repair material has a high recycled rubber content (from old HGV tyres) and is more elastic than traditional asphalt. This means it can be applied directly onto roads in need of repair as a new protective road surface where potholes or cracking damage have previously occurred.

Police were called to reports of a collision on the A6 between Buxton and Dove Holes at around 10.18am on Sunday 18 August. The collision, which occurred near Tom Thorn, involved two motorbikes and a car. Two motorcyclists, both men in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their families are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident as well as anyone with dashcam footage.

Police were called to reports of the collision on the Buxton to Leek road just outside Buxton at around 9.45am on Sunday 18 August. The collision involved three Ducati motorbikes, a van and a car. Three motorcyclists, all men in their 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their families are aware and our thoughts with them. The driver of the van, and two people from the car, were also taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Ms Rayner revealed the collective total for these local targets would be just over 370,000 homes a year. It is understood that under an existing proposal, 243 homes will be built over the next five years however, due to Labour’s new targets, approximately 585 homes will need to be built.

Glossopdale defibs raise money with sponsored walk

Glossopdale Community Defibs hosted a sponsored walk in order to raise the funds for another defibrilator to be fitted in Glossop. The event attracted many members of the local community who had the chance to receive CPR and defib training at the event, there was also a live band, tombola, auction and a raffle. A grand total of over £13000 was raised at the event with all the money going straight to the charity.
