The Minister made the announcement at the Southstart conference in Adelaide this week, confirming Labor would be revamping its approach to diversity in STEM and bolstering underrepresented groups across these fields.

Australian healthcare AI company Harrison.ai has raised $179 million in a Series C funding round, marking one of the largest capital raises in Australia’s medtech sector.  This follows a $129 million funding round back in 2021. The round was co-led by Aware Super, ECP, and Horizons Ventures, with new investors including the National Reconstruction Fund, Ord Minnett, and Wollemi Capital Group. They were also joined by existing backers Blackbird Ventures and Alpha JWC Ventures.

LaunchVic has launched Basecamp – a six-week program designed to help seed to Series A startup founders navigate the complexities of leadership, including hiring and retaining talent. According to a joint 2023 report from the Tech Council of Australia and LaunchVic, there is a critical shortage of non-technical roles in the startup ecosystem – particularly at the senior executive level.
