    What is “raw material” in an age of ready-mades? For Coumba Samba, it is color. Her show “Red Gas” (2024) at Arcadia Missa, London, interprets diplomacy as a play of surfaces: her sole reference is a photo, taken in June of 2023, that shows Russian president Vladimir Putin shaking hands with then-president of Senegal Macky Sall. They stand on a big blue carpet. The carpet could be anywhere; it happens to be installed in a convention center in St. Petersburg called Expoforum.
