Over the weekend one vocal trio added one more performance to their schedule, inside the Alaska’s News Source studio. For audiences who weren’t able to make it to any of the events in the first weekend of the festival, Alaska’s News Source brought music to them.

The festival stretches from May 30 to June 9, at venues like Peratrovich Park and Van’s Dive Bar. There’s an event for any listening preference. Some Alaskan musicians have made long journeys to partake in the musical gathering. Chaz Gist, a full-time musician from Ketchikan, is acting as an “emotional support bassist” at JazzFest.

According to Lieutenant Nick Zito with Alaska State Troopers, Village Public Safety officers based in Emmonak and community members recently voiced concern regarding alcohol and crime in the area, prompting an investigation into substance imports and use in the Emmonak and the surrounding area.

Police officers helped Anchorage Animal Care and Control rescue 71 dogs found in “unimaginable conditions.”Anchorage Animal Care and Control said it cannot handle that many dogs and needs the community’s help.
