In downtown Anchorage some tourists said they purposely selected solstice dates to intersect with their time in Alaska, but others just happened to be up north for the longest day of the year.

Juneteenth events began the weekend before June 19 and closed on the historic day. Following multiple days of celebrating, remembrance, and community togetherness, Juneteenth events in Anchorage came to a close with the grand opening of the Alaska Black Caucus Equity Center.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A Fairbanks woman is dead after her raft overturned on the Chatanika River. According to Alaska State Troopers, she wasn’t wearing a life vest. Summer in Alaska brings plenty of opportunities to recreate on the water. However, statistics indicate the 49th state has some of the highest drowning rates in the nation.
