A jury Wednesday found Nicholas Jordan guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal shootings of his roommate and a woman inside a dorm room on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus last February. Fourth Judicial District Court Judge David Shakes read the verdict in a Colorado Springs courtroom at 1:40 p.m., after the jury deliberated for nearly five hours. The judge said Jordan will be sentenced Wednesday afternoon. He faces a mandatory life term in prison for each murder count.

A former Clear Creek sheriff’s deputy who was convicted at trial of criminally negligent homicide in Christian Glass’ 2022 death was sentenced to the maximum three years in state prison Monday morning. Andrew Buen was also ordered to serve 120 days on a reckless engagement charge, which will run concurrently with his time served in prison, Fifth Judicial District Court Judge Catherine Cheroutes said inside a Georgetown courtroom.

At least nine international students studying at universities in Colorado have had their visas revoked by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, school officials said. Five international students at Colorado State University had their visas revoked and their Student and Exchange Visitor Information System paperwork terminated, Tiana Kennedy, a spokesperson for the university said Tuesday.

Colorado Springs police fatally shot an armed man suspected of breaking into vehicles downtown Monday afternoon, officials said. About 2:20 p.m., someone called 911 to report a man threatening someone with a gun and breaking into cars in a parking lot near Colorado Avenue and Tejon Street, the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a social media post. Officers found the man inside a car and tried to take him into custody, police said.
