Introduction Given the increasing prevalence of hypertensive disease and diabetes during pregnancy—both of which are associated with adverse maternal and offspring outcomes—management of these diseases is a major clinical concern. These diseases are associated with long-term outcomes such as cardiovascular disease and obesity, and an increased risk of metabolic disease—including diabetes—for both mother and offspring.
