According to its latest Nigeria Development Update, the World Bank reports that Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has been transferring only 50% of fuel subsidy removal savings to the Federation Account. It said out of the N1.1tn revenue from crude sales and other income in 2024, the NNPCL only remitted N600bn, leaving a deficit of N500bn unaccounted for.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken Elie Bitar, a foreign national, off its wanted list for crypto bridge exchange (CBEX) fraud. On April 30, the EFCC declared Bitar wanted for alleged fraud on the CBEX trading platform. They posted his wanted notice on social media. In the notice (now deleted), the EFCC said Bitar was 41 years old and lived at “Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos State.”In April, CBEX users reported they couldn’t withdraw their money.

The Senate has given its approval to the appointment of five individuals as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This decision came after the Senate Committee on INEC submitted its report during plenary on Wednesday. The report was laid before the chamber by the committee chairman, Senator Simon Lalong (APC, Plateau).
