Coastal flooding, blocked streets and a falling tree trapping children in a house were reported Thursday as Hurricane Helene neared Florida. At 11 a.m., Helene had 105 mph sustained winds as it moved north-northeast at 14 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. Helene is expected to make landfall overnight Thursday near Tallahassee as a Cat. 3 hurricane with 120 mph sustained winds. Storm surge, wind, and rainfall impacts will extend far away from the center, particularly on the east side.
