Uniformed military officers invaded the headquarters of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IE) in Alausa, Lagos, on Thursday morning and assaulted staff after their power supply was disconnected. FIJ gathered that the officers, who were from the Sam Ethan Air Force Base in Ikeja, stormed the power distribution company’s office and physically assaulted staff over the disconnection. They also prevented anyone from entering or leaving the premises while attacking the employees.

On Sunday, four students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, were abducted from their hostel in Paris Quarters behind their school. According to several media reports, the students’ hostel was attacked by a large group of terrorists (referred to as bandits) around 2:20 am. A consequence of their attack was the kidnapping of four students who have been identified as Wali Kayode (25), Fahad Muhammad (20), Emmanuel and one yet-to-be-identified student.

More than 36 months since the Lagos State Government started the construction of the Opebi-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge, it has yet to complete it. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement he shared about the project on his X page on Monday, praised the project’s benefits but failed to state when it would be completed. He also failed to acknowledge the delays that have stalled the project’s completion.

Kidnappers have made at least N46.1 million from the abduction of corps members alone between 2023 and 2025. The latest of these ransom payments is the case of Rofiat Lawal, a corps member whose family paid N1.1 million to kidnappers after she was abducted on her way to Ibadan, Oyo State. Lawal, who was released yesterday, was kidnapped on her way to Ibadan, Oyo State from Edo State on Tuesday.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, has accused Godswill Akpabio, the senate president, of directing suggestive remarks at her on different occasions. Akpoti-Uduaghan, who appeared on Arise TV on Friday, said that the altercation between her and the senate leader on February 20 broke the camel’s back because she had repeatedly rejected his advances.
