You honor them by voting.”I’ve heard those words in one form or another throughout my lifetime. I’ve repeated those words time and again to those who tell me they don’t vote. I was raised to believe voting is your civic duty and it’s how you effect change.

Thursday is Agent Orange Awareness Day. I didn’t know such a day existed until I received an email from David Hine, a retired Air Force veteran and board member of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). Of course, I heard of Agent Orange and its connection to the Vietnam War, and I knew it was bad for many who were exposed to it, but I didn’t know the full extent of what Agent Orange was or how dangerous the chemical was until I spoke with Hine.

Apparently, the students who attend Hamilton Southeastern Schools are showing way too much skin and spending way too much time in the restroom having sex, doing drugs and God knows what else for at least one board member. "I don't feel that the skin should be showing at all," board member Suzanne Thomas said at a recent work session and school board meeting. Thomas wants all shirts to have sleeves. She also wants slips under dresses and shorts under skirts. I’m sorry, what? No skin?
