More than 100 people had gathered outside T&S Abattoir in Arley by the time my camera operator and I arrived on Wednesday. It was the third demonstration in less than a week and the road was lined with angry protestors, many of whom were holding banners. The gates of the slaughterhouse were shut but it was clear from the movement of staff that work was still taking place.

ExclusiveITV News Central can exclusively reveal the West Midlands Mayor's plans to kickstart one of the biggest social housing programmes in decades. Richard Parker has set a target of building 20,000 new social homes over the next 10 years in a bid to tackle the region’s affordable housing shortage. Speaking at a new site for 124 social and affordable homes in Edgbaston in Birmingham, Parker said the need to build was urgent.

A mum from Dudley who had to quit her business after finding out she had incurable skin cancer has called on the next UK Government to help save more lives. Helen Hickman was shocked to discover that a tiny blood-blister on her arm was in fact melanoma in March 2021. Doctors believed surgery had cleared the cancer but, less than a year later, Helen was given the devastating news that it had spread to her abdomen and her lungs.

A business owner from Staffordshire says he was shocked that HS2 insisted on seizing his site, despite the rail project no longer passing through the land after the northern leg of the route was scrapped. Simon Boote is co-director of a fireworks storage facility in Swynnerton - SGB World Services. The site manages and distributes several tonnes of commercial fireworks, used for huge displays around the world.

A woman living next to a Staffordshire ghost village after HS2 purchased homes for the now-scrapped northern leg of the route, says it's been left in a state that's "shameful and a national scandal". Whitmore was directly on the path of HS2's proposed route from Birmingham to Manchester, prompting several homeowners to sell their properties to the company. HS2 says it acquired 41 properties in the village.
