I’m not talking about how to do laundry or do the dishes.

I have a running list in my head, at all times, of projects I need to complete at my house and at my business. As I’ve shared before, I am not much of a DIYer. My skill set is minimal and my desire to learn is nearly nonexistent. I’ve pushed through some of this in recent years, especially at my business. It feels more urgent and important to learn this stuff when my livelihood depends on it.

When I visited my sister in Oregon last winter, I remember feeling certain she would never come back East. She, my brother-in-law, and my nephew were making a life for themselves in one of the coolest mountain towns I’d ever visited. It reminded me so much of northern New Hampshire, but instead of all the buildings in town giving Old-New-England vibes, it was more like Wild-West-Cowboy-Saloon structures. Still, like here, the village is filled with small shops selling essentials and then some.
