Tech burnout throughout IT isn’t new, but it is getting worse thanks to the new AI overlords, er, overloads. Here’s what’s fanning the flames and how to put them out. Rep. Becca Balint’s May 28 town hall in Newport included a highly offensive remark: “If we don’t have avenues for people to come here legally … we’re not going to have anybody around to wipe our asses.”This crude metaphor perpetuates a bigoted stereotype that immigrants are only valued for low-wage, undesirable jobs like personal care. Such rhetoric is disturbing and dehumanizes immigrants, ignoring their vital contributions to Vermont’s economy, in a wide range of important roles.

Now, with their skills becoming increasingly redundant, the question becomes whether the role itself is antiquated. Change may be the only constant, but disruption is ruling this age. And it’s not just AI that’s breaking things. Economic uncertainty, political tension, market shifts, and fluctuating tariffs are wreaking havoc around the world.
