The 1480 WHBC High School Football Awards Banquet saw a crowd of close to 300 people join in celebrating the All County Offense, All County Defense and the Team MVP’s. The celebration of the 80th Anniversary continued with the Stark County Coach of the Year, Stark County Player of the Year, the Jim Johnson Sportsmanship Award, and the Jim Muzzy Scholastic Achievement Award. Great speeches by all and a wonderful talk with Hall of Famer Dermontti Dawson rounded out the night.

Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Canton), who has served in the General Assembly for decades, has died. Schuring passed away after a long and courageous battle with several illnesses. He was a regular guest for more than 5 years on Canton’s Morning News with Pam Cook and was a good friend of the radio station. He is also known for authoring a lot of legislation that helped Stark County tremendously. Former Canton Mayor Tom Bernabei was a dear friend.

The 80th Anniversary WHBC All-County High School Football team has been selected and will be honored at our banquet on Thursday, November 21st at the Krassas Events Center. Our 4 major award winners – Stark County MVP, Coach of the Year, Jim Johnson Sportsmanship Awards and Jim Muzzy Scholastic Achievement Award – will be announced at the banquet. More People Are Dining Out Solo:The stigma of dining out alone is being kicked to the curb thanks to the younger generations. Restaurant booking platform OpenTable has seen solo dining reservations increase by eight-percent in the last year. Their June survey found that 60-percent had dined alone in the past year, including 68-percent of Gen Z and Millennial respondents. A record 30-percent of Americans live alone and eateries are starting to take notice.
