Brief History of a Therapeutic Paradigm Change: The Revolution in OncologyAt the dawn of oncology, between the end of 1800 and the beginning of 1900, just a few Cancer Centers existed worldwide, and treatments consisted of surgery, x-rays, and the very first chemotherapeutic agents. Then, the decades of chemotherapy boom arrived, from 1940 to 1970, with a great expansion of available chemotherapeutic agents and combination schemes.
