    Tivoli Brewing Company is ending its ten-year run on the Auraria Campus in Denver. The taphouse has been closed since Dec. 16, but the campus and the beer company said they were working on a new lease. That never happened, and the closure of the taphouse became official with a joint announcement on Tuesday.

    The city of Denver could spend $70 million to buy land for a women’s soccer stadium and make improvements near the site in the Baker neighborhood, according to a newly released city document. The unnamed new National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team had already unveiled its plan to build a stadium as part of a mixed-used development adjacent to the Broadway Station light rail stop — but details on the finances have been short.

    Several protesters arrested during last year’s antiwar encampment at the Auraria Campus have filed a lawsuit against members of the campus police department, alleging illegal suppression of free speech. The lawsuit was jointly filed by eight protesters who were arrested on April 26, 2024. The group includes students and professors from the three higher education institutions that make up the Auraria Campus, as well as members of the public.

    On a one-mile stretch of Federal Boulevard in West Denver, it might seem like something is missing. Aside from a Taco Bell on one end, there’s a notable absence of corporate chains along the stretch of Federal from Alameda to Mississippi avenues. There’s no Starbucks, no Buffalo Wild Wings and certainly nothing like a Modern Market Eatery. Instead, nearly all of the businesses here are locally owned. Some have been passed down for generations.
