Rosie Davis said it jokingly. But the run Oklahoma State softball’s second baseman has been on is serious. Davis is on an eight-game hitting streak and has recorded a hit in 10 of the Cowgirls’ last 11 games. She’s also hit a home run in three of the last six games and has been the most consistent force in OSU’s lineup the last couple of weeks. “I’m not gonna lie, it feels kinda easy up there for me (right now),” Davis said with a laugh.

Oklahoma State softball coach Kenny Gajewski is putting it all on himself. Gajewski’s Cowgirls — the team he said preseason could be the best he’s ever had — suffered their 13th loss of the season (23-13) to Iowa State on Friday in a 5-4 defeat, giving OSU more losses than all of last season (49-12). The Cowgirls are also 5-6 in Big 12 Conference play and have lost four straight games. The Cowgirls clawed back in the seventh from a two-run deficit and forced extra innings.

Oklahoma State men’s basketball isn’t just doing well in the transfer portal — the Cowboys have done better than almost everybody. As of Thursday morning, OSU has compiled the third-best transfer portal class in the country according to On3.com. The Cowboys were ranked No. 1 as recently as Monday. OSU coach Steve Lutz was hired last April, meaning the portal had already been open for several weeks, giving him a smaller window to work with.

OKLAHOMA CITY — As Rosie Davis trotted around third base, it appeared Oklahoma State softball could be headed toward a win over its in-state rival. Davis, the Cowgirls’ second baseman, hit a home run over the right center-field wall to give No. 18 OSU a 3-0 lead over No. 2 Oklahoma in the third inning. The Sooners hadn’t shown much life yet, either. But in the fourth inning, after OU responded with two runs in the third, second baseman Ailana Agbayni made a catch that flipped the game entirely.

Heading into last season, wide receiver was one of the position groups where Oklahoma State football brought back several key contributors. Those players are mostly gone. Brennan Presley and Rashod Owens exhausted their eligibility, while De’Zhaun Stribling transferred to Ole Miss. Presley is the Cowboys’ all-time leading receiver, and Owens and Stribling combined for 2,490 yards across the past two seasons. Now, as OSU prepares for 2025, its wideouts aren’t highly experienced in orange and black.
