As per a Cricbuzz report, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has confirmed that Rana will be with the Indian squad in England. The right-arm pacer has been retained as a cover for some Indian players who "apparently are having a few niggles." The report added that Rana hasn't been official drafted to the senior squad. He emphasized that after consulting with those managing his back and surgeon, they all agreed he needed to be smarter about his workload. This led him to inform the BCCI that he wasn't interested in a leadership role due to not being able to play all Tests.

On The ICC Review, Shastri revealed his preferred batting order for the 1st Test. He believes India should go in with a left-right opening combination in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. "I think this is a big tour for him (Rahul). He's the most experienced of the batsmen," Shastri said while explaining his choice. He also picked Sai Sudarshan as a debutant at Number 3 in his line-up. Gill, India's new Test captain, will bat at Number 4 as per Shastri's line-up.

An ardent MS fan! If he is willing to send Ashwin before him, I really feel he should retire with immediate effect. If you can hit a 16-ball 30*, why not do it up the order in a losing cause! If it's about your knee, then please bow out. #Dhoni #MSDhoni
