1. IntroductionHemostasis is the result of a set of well-regulated cellular and biochemical processes that maintain the blood in a liquid state in normal vessels and induce hemostatic clot formation after the occurrence of vascular damage. A congenital or iatrogenic (pharmacologically induced) deficiency in coagulation can be a serious risk in surgery. Over the years, the population affected by cardiovascular diseases has been increasing.
