The Tigers, despite a stellar record and a highly-regarded minor league system, are facing numerous difficult decisions the next two months. Fortunately, they involve having so much depth it presents numerous dilemmas. The usual question of whether the Tigers will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline is irrelevant. They undoubtedly should be looking to significantly add. There are still nearly two months before the deadline, and much can change.

The Stanley Cup finals begin tonight, and we may be watching the greatest hockey player of all-time participate. Connor McDavid is looking to pass another test, the most important one, on his way to hockey immortality. This crowning of the 28-year-old McDavid isn't based on the accumulation of career records. He's just in his 10th season. It's not because of championships. McDavid is aiming to hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time in the Oilers rematch with the Panthers.

Parker Meadows returned to the Tigers lineup Monday. He had a double, a triple, made a brilliant diving catch and stole a base. Of course he did. The Pistons are comparable to the Knicks and Pacers.

We like our sports to be simplistic. Sign this guy. Get rid of that guy. However, it doesn't always work out that way. For example, Tigers' pitcher Tarik Skubal. It's complicated. On one hand, he is the toast of this town. His performance last Sunday, stopping a three-game losing skid by the first-place Tigers to the second-place Guardians, was a jewel.

Andrew Hoffman, who just yielded a bomb to Spencer Torkelson, is the third player from Oakland University to play MLB, joining Don Kirkwood and Mike Brosseau. He pitched in 13 games as freshman for the Gokden Grizzlies.

Alex Cobb rehab start 2 scoreless innings for West Michigan. Good part: Sat at 93 mph with good movement, spotted well. Breaking ball was good. Not-so-good part: Looked in some discomfort after a couple pitches and didn’t seem mobile.
