ENFIELD: Hundreds came out to take part in the annual Easter Egg Hunt put on by East Hants Ground Search and Rescue. The hunt took place at the Enfield Lions Den with more than 10,000 eggs placed in the wooded area behind the Enfield RFC rugby pitch. There were two areas, one for 4-6-years-old and one for seven-years-old and up, taped off in the wooded area for children to go with the area that corresponded with their age.

LOWER SACKVILLE: As part of our video interview series with those running to be MP in Sackville-Bedford-Preston, we speak with Ryan Slaney of the People’s Party of Canada. Slaney is seeking to be elected in the riding to be part of Maxime Bernier’s PPC team, and replace Darrell Samson as the MP. We asked Slaney eight questions. The other candidates in the riding are Dave Carroll of the Conservative Party; Liberal Braedon Clark; Andre Anderson of the Green Party; and the NDP’s Isaac Wilson.

FALL RIVER: A Fall River soccer player has been signed to a development contract by the Halifax Wanderers. Ben Marsh, a midfielder, was an invitee to the Wanderers’ training camp after an impressive 2024 season with local club Suburban FC and Wanderers U21. Marsh, 16, was named the Wanderers U21’s 2024 Young Player of the Year.

BROOKFIELD: Police have arrested Tayshawn Maloney and a second man following a motor vehicle crash near Brookfield. At approximately 1 a.m. on April 18, Colchester County District RCMP and Truro Police Service responded to a motor vehicle crash at Hwy. 102, Exit 12, near Brookfield. “Officers learned that two vehicles, a pick-up truck and an SUV, had crashed off the exit and three males had fled the scene on foot into a wooded area,” a police spokesperson said in a release.

LOWER SACKVILLE: Construction is nearing completion at the Cavalier “bridge”. According to a post on the Sackville Lake Parks and Trail Association Facebook page, workers will be onsite over the next while to add gravel and other finishing touches as the ground dries out. Most of the fencing has been taken away, but may return as required. The group asks people to please be respectful of the workers and enjoy the trail when it is open.
