Full-time at the City Ground on Saturday was subdued in a way we have not experienced in a while. There was little applause, yet no booing, just a quiet sense of disbelief following Everton's last-gasp winner. As the crowds shuffled out, the sunny weather barely reflecting anyone's mood, that sense of disbelief has shifted from the surreal feeling of being third in the Premier League for so long to the real battle to cling to a dream we never thought possible.

Injuries are not going to derail Nottingham Forest's season. Not if Nuno Espirito Santo has anything to do with it. While the Reds might have had the fewest injuries in the Premier League so far - even with the latest additions to the list - the most recent setbacks are the most difficult ones the manager has had to deal with. Saturday's 2-1 loss to Aston Villa showed how badly we missed Chris Wood and Ola Aina, yet for a few inches here or there, Forest could still have won the game.

Nottingham Forest do not do things the easy way. Three consecutive penalty shootouts to reach an FA Cup semi-final is par for the course when it comes to this club. What happened that day remains a sore point for most Forest fans - Paul Gascoigne escaped punishment for two wild tackles and Brian Clough failed to win the one trophy that eluded him.

Nottingham Forest's first team is so settled that, given our current position, it is difficult to ask any more of them. Ten names make the manager's teamsheet without any thought and the 11th place invariably falls to Nicolas Dominguez or Ryan Yates in midfield, depending on the opposition. Midfielders Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are still finding match fitness after injury, while Taiwo Awoniyi finds himself in a similar position given the form of Chris Wood.
