Mountain Top communities fared well in the recently announced round of state gaming grants. The largest grant went to Wright Twp., which received $359,000 for road improvements on Terrace Road and Oak Road, two roads the township has targeted for work. Supervisor Donald Zampetti, chairman of the board of supervisors and township roadmaster, expressed his appreciation for the grant money and the help os state legislators in securing the funds.

Wright Twp. officials, at their May 12 meeting, voted to apply for a $250,000 state Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP) grant which would be used to build two pickle ball courts in the township park. The pickle ball courts are part of the park’s master plan. Those courts can’t come soon enough for some township pickle ball players who for years have been encouraging township officials to build or create someplace for them to play.

WRIGHT TWP. — For what is believed to be the first time in the school’s more than 60 year history, three members of this year’s Crestwood High School senior class will be attending military academies following graduation. Two of the 2025 graduates will continue the legacy of their parents while the third will have the opportunity to serve his country while participating in a sport that he loves.
