Since the Toronto Argonauts raised the 111th Grey Cup in November, we’ve seen multiple blockbuster trades and significant movement in free agency. It sets us up for plenty of intrigue over the next six months. And now, with training camps ready to open around the league, here’s everything you need to know.

Last season saw the Saskatchewan Roughriders return to the post-season for the first time in three years. The Riders advanced to the Western Final in 2024 thanks in large part to a stellar defensive unit that took on the personality of new head coach Corey Mace. As we continue highlighting one reason to be excited for all nine CFL teams, and as training camps open across the league this week, we’re zeroing in on Saskatchewan’s defence.

Where would the Calgary Flames have been this season without Dustin Wolf? It’s a question we asked in this market many times during Wolf’s rookie campaign, and there’s at least one definitive answer: not in the playoff fight until the very end. For as good as many veterans were over the last eight months, it’s hard to argue for anyone other than Wolf as Calgary’s 2024-25 Most Valuable Player. He was just that good.

After exceeding expectations all season and missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Calgary Flames are focused on taking another step forward next season. General manager Craig Conroy is adamant that Calgary won’t deviate from the big-picture plan, which puts most of the off-season focus on internal business. The Flames have interesting decisions to make on a few pending free agents, while the trade buzz will be swirling around one big-name defenceman.

After the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery, the top 16 picks are now official. Not shown is Montreal also holding the 17th overall selection before Calgary selects 18th (via New Jersey). #Flames also own Florida’s first-round pick, but the slotting of that pick is to be determined. https://t.co/72q50cqRuZ
