MCKINNEY — Atop the highest point of the golf course, near the 14th tee of TPC Craig Ranch, I watched from a distance the amazing golfing prowess of Scottie Scheffler. My location was a respite from the horde following Scheffler’s march to an 8-shot win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson Golf Classic on a picture perfect Sunday afternoon. Enjoying my revelry with a beautiful view of the 14th and 15th holes below, I found myself focusing on Scheffler’s walking.

The course, owned by the Buster Cupit family, agreed to sell the course and its property after managing it for almost two years since the death of Cupit in July of 2023. “It’s bitter sweet, no doubt about that,” Terri Cupit Werner said.
