"It got really rough. I lost my job. I lost my car and my personal belongings," Dakota Gadson said. Gadson went through a traumatic time after his father died of cancer. "I was kind of just lost," Gadson said.

WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) — A 100-year-old organization in Warwick is a lifeline for children and senior citizens alike. In-Sight makes life better for the blind and sight impaired, and the organization serves about 1,000 people a year. It's 4-year-old Amias' first visit to In-Sight. Optometrist Dr. Greg Waldorf evaluates his albinism, which affects his vision. But for Amias, it's just a chance to play. "I'm just playing with toys," he said.

The ripple effect of crime is painful for the sons and daughters left behind when parents are sent to prison or are the victims of violent crime. "It was very tragic. I was young, so I didn't really understand it," said Dante Alves. And for the children of incarcerated parents, it's not unusual to feel that they share that punishment. That's doubly true for Dante. "It made me grow up faster because I had to be the man of the house," Dante said.

Members are from all over Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. All of them are accomplished musicians, and they come from diverse backgrounds. "I just love being in a room with people who want to play music at a high level," Dr. Brian Cardany, the band director, said.
