In Canada, Pollinator Week 2025 is celebrated from June 16 to 22. This event was initiated by the Pollinator Partnership, which is a United States not-for-profit dedicated to the health, protection and conservation of all pollinators. This annual event has grown internationally and involves a broad collaboration of diverse partners. Pollinators are organisms that play a crucial role in plant reproduction by transferring pollen from the male part of a flower (anther) to the female part (stigma).

This is the last article in the series on my choice of some of the best perennials to plant in your garden. I could write countless more articles with this subject focus – but there is so much to share and so little time.. I hope that you will begin to grow perennials, or if you already do, expand the number or type of perennials you grow. Spring colour is so appreciated in areas that are blessed with long winters.

This is the third article in the series on how to choose the best perennial plant in your garden. Perennials are a great choice for any garden, and it is not that difficult to plant them appropriately so that your garden has colour throughout the seasons. It is essential to ensure that whatever you add to your garden will not cause problems in the future. Therefore, all perennials should be chosen carefully and will behave appropriately in your garden.

This is the second article in the series on my choice of some of the best perennials to plant in your garden. Perennials give you many years of beauty and should be included in the garden, despite the challenge of planting them appropriately. I feel that it is important to plant perennials that give you colour throughout the season and extremely attractive to butterflies and bees. They need to be well-behaved in the garden, as the last thing that we need is planting a long-term problem plant.

Growing heirlooms is something that should always be considered. We need to consciously make the effort to preserve our genetic diversity for future generations. It is also something that honours plants that we have grown over the centuries. One thing that I always notice as a very visible difference between hybrids and heirlooms is that when you plant a field of hybrid plants, they will be almost completely identical, like a brigade of soldiers.
