Hobe Sound native and former Pine School star Andie Smith failed to make the cut in her first-ever LPGA major tournament. The Duke University star completed the first 36 holes of the Women’s U.S. Open at 10-over-par, nine strokes below the projected cutline. After shooting a 76 (4-over) during Friday's second round, Smith, who made the 156-player field as an amateur, currently sits tied for 133rd.

As the best softball teams in the country duke it out Oklahoma City, the road to Omaha is officially underway for the nation's top baseball squads. The 78th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament gets rolling on Friday as the top 16 teams in the country will serve as hosts to open regionals. From there, 64 teams will be dwindled down to 16 by the end of the weekend as part of four-team, double-elimination brackets.

One of the top prospects in the state will be wearing a different shade of red when the 2025 high school football season kicks off. Jordan Crutchfield is headed to Indian River County after announcing his transfer from Fort Pierce Westwood to Vero Beach High. The rising senior made the announcement on Thursday from his social media account on X. “First and foremost, I want to (thank) the Fort Pierce Westwood coaching staff for taking me in and helping me become the person I am today.
