    On Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30, students at Horse Lake Elementary School were led by Sarah Lum's Grade 3/4 class put together the Glow Show in one of the school's computer labs. The show featured several drawings and paintings done by students using blacklight markers and paints, all themed around an aquatic environment. Throughout both days, students and family got to tour through the show and see their art brought to stunning life by several dark lights.

The memorial amateur rodeo, which features bull riding and barrel racing, is held each year in memory of Logan Parent, a 100 Mile House bull rider who tragically took his own life after complications with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, better known as CTE. It's a degenerative brain disease typically found in athletes who receive multiple hits to the head, such as bull riders like Logan.

Colin Campbell, who wrote his column Light Bites for the 100 Mile Free Press in the early 2000s, has penned a humorous historical tale about a young Scotsman named Callum McBay's quest to save his family's sheep farm by striking it rich in the Cariboo Gold Rush. He said he was directly inspired by his time living in the South Cariboo to write this book.
