High pressure is weakening and a trough of low pressure to our North will juice up the winds and stir up the atmosphere for the next couple of days. That means winds and the potential for blowing sand and dust. Winds will reach their peak tomorrow afternoon and evening, but expect breezy to gusty condition from this afternoon through Thursday. Along with the gusty winds, cooler temps are steadily dropping in as the air mass changes. We'll see highs dipping well into the 80s for the next few days.

By Patrick Evans Highs today will be similar to what we experienced over the weekend, but cooler conditions are just around the corner. High pressure will weaken and slide eastward today, bringing gusty winds along the way. Temps today will still run in the middle 90sA significant front drops in from up North by later tomorrow, and those winds will gust to near 30 m.p.h.

Palm Springs tied the all-time heat record for April 10th yesterday, hitting 101 late in the afternoon. That tied the previous 1989 record. I'm anticipating temps in that range again today before we see some modest cooling through the weekend as high pressure still dominates the forecast. We're still in the "Crescent of Heat" that could result in record highs this afternoon. By tomorrow, the heatwave moves a little farter East, allowing us to drop back into double digits.

High pressure remains the dominant feature on our forecast map, and it's pushing temps into record range later this afternoon. Heat is expected to peak today and tomorrow, running in the lower 100s for both days. Records both today and tomorrow are relatively low numbers, so they are within reach. The forecast cools a bit into the weekend, plus weekend records are closer to 110. So through Festival Weekend One, highs will be well above average, but should drop out of triple digits by Saturday.

Highs have been steadily rising since the weekend, and will peak over the next couple of days in the lower 100s. High pressure remains the primary culprit creating the heatwave. The heatwave has spread to most of the Western states, and as far north at Oregon. We will top out very close to 100 later this afternoon. Highs will span the lower triple digits through Friday, and then as we move through Coachella weekend number 1, highs will drop back into the 90s.
