    TAMPA, Fla. — A 51-year-old woman has been charged with DUI manslaughter following a fiery crash on the Selmon Expressway that resulted in her passenger's death. Maria Menjivar is accused of driving while drunk before crashing her van early Monday morning near 78th Street North on the highway, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. That crash led to the death of her passenger, 54-year-old Emilio Alfaro-Herrera, at Tampa General Hospital.

    KISSIMMEE, Fla. — On Monday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that construction on the I-4 congestion relief lanes will be completed eight months ahead of schedule. The governor shared the news alongside Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Jared Perdue during a news conference in Kissimmee. The two new lanes are expected to open in both directions between US-27 and World Drive in roughly two weeks, according to DeSantis.

    SARASOTA, Fla. — Howard China Smith III, the son of a two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, China Smith, has been sentenced to life in prison. Smith III was convicted of second-degree murder and attempted robbery, according to a release from Florida State Attorney Ed Brodsky. The news comes seven years after the victim, Todd Reaves, was ambushed and shot to death while returning to his parents' house in the Newtown neighborhood of Sarasota. That shooting happened on Jan. 20, 2018.

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A teen was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing another teen on Saturday night in St. Petersburg. The boy, identified as 13-year-old Jaden Hill of Largo, was shot around 11 p.m. on 11th Street South, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the teen suffering from gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries at the hospital.

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman and her mother are dead after the woman's boyfriend stabbed them several times at a home in St. Pete. The suspect, 41-year-old Kirk Hysell Jr., has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The incident happened around 10:14 a.m. Saturday at 5252 108th Street North, the agency said.
