I do not have a Switch 2 review for you today. That’s later. But I have a few stories. Around 7am, I heard the familiar pitter patter of my five-year-old waking up and heading towards the family room, where she’ll often bark over a breakfast order (typically a waffle and mango slices) and watch her iPad before school. While clamoring over the couch, she paused. I was, of course, watching from a few feet away, waiting for her to realize what was really going on. Her eyes bulged.

It's interesting to have this conversation on the same week that Remap turns two. Given our job prospects to stay in media when Remap went under—a term also known as "zero"—there is no denying that Remap has been a success. We can pay our bills, pay friends and colleagues to work with us, and run unprofitable but undeniably fun live shows. (One day we will figure out that part.

The first week of June is a big week for Remap, between quietly hoping that everyone wants us to keep doing this, while also preparing to head to Los Angeles for several long days and nights. I'm doing my best to avoid thinking about attending a wedding on Saturday, one likely to end late at night, before waking up ass early to catch a flight to Los Angeles. I can't even check into my hotel by the time I land, but will have to immediately scoot over for an appointment.

In desperation, the extraordinary becomes possible. It’s how I felt when VICE told me that seven years was, well, long enough. Many of my colleagues had started their own businesses, but I was not a business person. I can write, I can podcast, I can stream. Numbers? That’s what a calculator is for. Many times, I’ve stayed at a bad job because a bad job was better than hustling for a new one. Own my own company?

It's nice when you have some extra time to do things that aren't that important but would make you 0.0001% happier knowing they are no longer around. Take my PC desktop, for example. In backing up my old VICE email, it built a bunch of weird files on my desktop and made it cluttered. I like a clean desktop. Put that shit into folders, you know? But I only use my PC desktop to stream games, having moved into a Mac for most of my writing and admin work.
