    PERRYVILLE — Braving gusty winds, tennis players from Bohemia Manor, Elkton, North East, Perryville and Rising Sun competed at the Conowingo Division Tennis Championships on Tuesday, with the Indians and Tigers bringing home division titles. North East's Ashleigh Peace and Brady Dvorak won division titles in the girls' and boys' singles brackets, while the Indians' boys' doubles team of Ben Dvorak and Ryan Galbraith captured a doubles crown.

    Jaiden Guy credits his uncle for getting him into the sport of basketball. Watching Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder with his uncle at a young age, Guy eventually started playing hoops at eight-years-old at the Newark Boys and Girls Club in Delaware. Over a decade later, Guy is being honored for his play at the junior college level. Guy was named a Division II third-team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association last week.

    ELKTON — Rising Sun junior Evan Freel has played alongside some of his teammates since he was in elementary school. Similarly, head coach Joe Bunk coached many of his current high school players through the youth ranks. That camaraderie and familiarity is currently paying off for the Tigers. “There is probably about nine guys on the team that I have coached since they were nine-years-old. They know me and I know them,” Bunk said.
