It was cruel. Sinister cruel. While Donald Trump was always going to relish the chance to be not only economical with the truth but simply inventive about it, Joe Biden, current Commander in Chief of the United States, leader of the self-described Free World, seemed a vanishing shadow, longing for soft slippers and the fireplace with cocoa, a case of comfort rather than the battling rage of politics. It need never have happened, and certainly not so early.

The European Parliament Election gave jolt not only to foreign onlooker, French President Macron was shattered. He was surely faltering and took such a step which many commentators described as playing Russian Roulette. Seeing the fascist RN party led by Marie Le Pen surging to top and farther erosion of his party (LREM, now renamed RE) and his alliance, he dissolved the parliament and called for a parliament election (1st round on June 30, 2nd round on July 7).

Thursday night’s debate between Democratic President Joe Biden and Republican ex-President Donald Trump was a totally degraded spectacle. One candidate could barely finish a sentence, while reiterating his commitment to US military supremacy and war against Russia. The other openly defended the attempted fascist coup of January 6, 2021 in which he attempted to establish a presidential dictatorship. Biden’s disastrous performance has already touched off a full-blown crisis in the Democratic Party.

The images are hard to fathom. How have well educated, well fed young Israelis been won to commit atrocities in Gaza similar to those perpetrated by Nazis against Jews? Deeply worrying as the Gaza and the overall Middle-East situation already is, escalatory events continue to take place. Israel’s strike on an Iranian Embassy building in Damascus which killed several senior Iranian commanders was followed by provocative exchange of threats between Israel and Iran. On April 10 President Biden spoke of USA’s ‘ironclad’ commitment to the security of Israel against threats from Iran and its proxies.

US President Joe Biden declared his “ironclad” support for Israel Wednesday, as Israeli bombing of Gaza intensifies and the mass starvation of the trapped Palestinian population worsens, threatening to kill more people in Gaza than the bombs and missiles. Biden was speaking at a press conference at the White House, alongside visiting Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
