The East Carolina baseball team entered the weekend looking to put a stop to its four-game losing streak when it resumed American Athletic Conference play on the road against Charlotte at Truist Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate Charlotte Knights. This is the Pirates' fourth AAC series. They began league play with six straight wins after sweeping Memphis and Rice in the first two conference weekends, before dropping all three last weekend to Florida Atlantic.

The East Carolina softball team was locked in a long battle with host North Carolina on Wednesday, but the Pirates' four-game winning streak didn't continue as they lost, 7-6 in nine innings at Anderson Softball Stadium in Chapel Hill. Emma Jackson and Trinity Nichols each had two hits to lead the Pirates (23-17), while Anna Sawyer recorded a double. The Pirates, however, could not maintain a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning and allowed the Tar Heels to creep back into the game.

Morgan Johnson hit the score-tying home run in the bottom of the fifth and Mary-Kathryn Scott plated the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth as the Pirates rallied to defeat the Tigers, 4-3, on Sunday.
