ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Monday, Atlanta leaders moved forward legislation urging the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) to change its policies around police pursuits within the city. The proposed resolution, which unanimously passed through the city’s Public Safety and Legal Administration committee, will go before the full city council for a vote. The next Atlanta City Council meeting is on Monday, May 5.

The emphasis comes just four months after the Apalachee High School shooting in Winder and as the country sees another school shooting in Madison, Wisconsin. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Wednesday, the Grand Kyiv Ballet performed 'The Nutcracker' in Atlanta in a one-night-only production. The ensemble included 20 Ukrainian dances who brought a modern take the holiday classic. "We want all of the audience to remember about Ukrainian culture, remember about the war in Ukraine. And that we need the help," said dancer Nicole Demura. Demura, from Kyiv, said her father is currently fighting in the war on behalf of Ukraine.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum announced new measures to limit the number of cars stolen at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. "We're removing the welcome mat at our airport for you to believe you can come and take vehicles," said Schierbaum. Recently, ANF Investigates found 301 cars have been stolen from Atlanta's airport this year as of Oct. 31. That is more than three times as many cars stolen in 2023.
