FARGO — Rangers at Theodore Roosevelt National Park euthanized a young female horse that was injured during last week’s roundup and had been released back into the park after being evaluated by a veterinarian. Park officials said they received a report that a 1-year-old filly that was captured during the roundup was injured. “The veterinarian examined the animal this evening and determined the humane course of action was to euthanize,” the park announced the evening of Friday, Oct. 18, on Facebook.

As of the morning of Monday, Oct. 14, a helicopter crew had rounded up 144 of the 198 horses roaming the park’s south unit, and park officials reportedly expect to gather the remainder Monday.
