    Last week Hospitality Investor was on site in Berlin for this year’s iteration of IHIF EMEA. The conference came at the perfect time to take the temperature of the industry given everything going on in the world at the moment. We’ll be building on many of the themes below over the next few months as we head into NYU IHIF  in New York and then on to IHIF Asia in Hong Kong after the summer. IHIF EMEA took place amidst a teetering macroeconomic background.

    Aareal Bank has closed a €567 million, cross-collateralised pan-European facility to refinance a portfolio of seven hotels in four different European countries for Archer Hotel Capital. Archer Hotel Capital is the joint investment vehicle of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and APG, a subsidiary of Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP, the Dutch pension fund. Over the years, Aareal Bank has financed various assets for Archer through multiple facilities.

Currently at an Italian hotel investment conference and it’s amazing how frequently the topic of overtourism has come up. Kudos to @rafat and @skift for leading the coverage on this over the years.
