1 Introduction In biomedical and epidemiological studies, diagnostic biomarkers are often used to distinguish diseased individuals from healthy ones in a potentially fast and economical way. For biomarkers with continuous results, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is a standard statistical tool to evaluate and compare their accuracy, consider Hanley and McNeil [1], Wieand et al. AbstractSelective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are only 30% effective for remission in subjects with major depression, and the best treatments for SSRI-resistant patients remain unclear. To model SSRI resistance, we used cF1ko mice with conditional deletion of the repressor Freud-1/CC2D1A in adult 5-HT neurons. Within weeks, this deletion leads to over-expression of 5-HT1A autoreceptors, reduced serotonergic activity and a fluoxetine-resistant anxiety-depression phenotype.
