Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) is planning to order up to 20 regional jets in line with plans to expand its domestic fleet and retire older aircraft, Reuters reported. CEO Mesfin Tasew Bekele told the newswire that the airline is currently evaluating three models, namely E190-E2s, A220-100s, or B737-7s. The final number of aircraft it orders will depend on which type is selected, he added.

Royal Jordanian (RJ, Amman Queen Alia) has taken delivery of its first A320-200N, three months later than it expected to begin operations with the new type. JY-RAD (msn 12304) was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac to Amman Queen Alia on May 28, 2025. The aircraft, one of 20 that the carrier has on order from lessors, is on lease from Avolon. The unit is the first of eight A320neo jets the lessor will deliver to Royal Jordanian over the next 12 months.

Gulf Air (GF, Bahrain International) is to lease nine A320neo Family aircraft from BOC Aviation as it pushes ahead with plans to expand its network. The contract comprises six A320-200Ns and three A321-200Ns. The Singapore-based lessor said in a May 29 press release it had entered into an agreement with Airbus to purchase the nine new narrowbodies and commit them "on long-term leases to new customer Gulf Air".

Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) is quietly acquiring new aircraft as it pursues a growth strategy that will see its fleet reach 170 aircraft by 2030, CEO Antonoaldo Neves told the Gulf News. The executive said the airline had added 60 units, both bought and leased, to the fleet in recent years, a development that was deliberately kept under wraps. "We are not in the announcement business […] about 200 and 300 planes," he told the newspaper. "Our business is to sell tickets.
