    Divisions for the 2024 APSE Contest have been determined. Divisions this year were set through a combined print and digital subscriber circulation for legacy newsrooms, while unique visitors were used for websites, and subscribers for Substack and newsletter-driven sites. In all, 176 members will participate in the contest. APSE Contest Chair Paul Barrett is still seeking judges, both remote and in person at the APSE Winter Conference, scheduled for Feb. 23-27 in Orlando, Fla.

    Hi everyone:Here we go, it’s time to give you the full official rules and entry keys for the 2024 APSE Contest. The list of organizations with entry keys below is not complete. The list below is everyone who has renewed as of Sunday, Jan. 12.  If you have not renewed or joined yet, there’s still time to do it for 2025 and the 2024 Contest. I will make more folders, send out links and add them to this space as those renewals come in.

    By John RikerFor the array of APSE Contest winners invited to speak Saturday at the “How We Did It” panel discussion at the APSE Summer Conference in Charlotte, N.C., their paths to the podium required their stories to stand out among the competition and resonate with their readership. During the discussion, each of the six speakers shifted from uncovering original stories about their beats to uncovering the insights behind the reporting and planning processes that set those stories apart.

On Friday during the “Why diversity is important as ever” general session at the APSE Summer Conference in Charlotte, N.C., moderator Roxanna Scott said, “This topic feels like a lot right now. It is very much in the news beyond sports.” Scott is the executive editor and vice president at USA TODAY Sports and an APSE Foundation board member.
