    Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher has announced his retirement from inter county hurling. The Lorrha native played with the Tipperary senior side for 16 years, winning three All-Ireland medals, five Munster titles and earning All-Star awards in 2014 and 2016.

    Moyle Rovers are Tipperary senior ladies football champions for the first time ever. The Monroe side beat a three in a row chasing Fethard in yesterday’s final, on a full time score of 0-12 to 1-07 in Bansha. Down by two points in the second half, Rovers scored the last four points to win their maiden crown. Elsewhere yesterday, Cappawhite were crowned intermediate champions with a 3-11 to 2-08 win over Templemore. In the Junior A final, Moyne/Templetuohy had a 0-11 to 1-07 win over Arravale Rovers.

    Galtee Rovers/St Pecaun are through to the County Intermediate Football final following their 3-5 to 1-10 over Golden-Kilfeacle. The line-up for the final will be confirmed his afternoon. The semi-final clash between Rockwell Rovers and Aherlow gets underway in Sean Treacy Park at 1pm. Elsewhere today, both Premier Junior County football semi-finals are taking place.

    The AIL season continues today with all three Tipperary teams in action today. In Division 1B, Nenagh Ormond are looking to continue their winning streak when they travel to Dublin to play Old Wesley. In Division 2C, Clonmel are looking for back-to-back home wins when they welcome Cork side Dolphin to Ardghaoithe. Meanwhile, Cashel have two wins from two as they head to Athlone to take on Buccaneers.

    A Tipperary sports club is unveiling new facilities this evening. Dundrum Athletics Club will be turning on their new lights at their track at 7.30pm. A €20,000 grant was secured for the project, with the club catering for hundreds of members around the West Tipperary area. Chair of Dundrum AC Michael Ryan says the new lights will be massive for the club moving forward:“It’s a very big occasion for the club. “we were thrilled to get a very sizeable grant from the community recognition fund.
