Ottawa Tourism has launched its Responsible Events Guide, a resource designed to help event planners make more sustainable, inclusive, and community-minded choices when hosting meetings and events in Canada’s capital. The guide will be officially showcased during IMEX Frankfurt, 20–22 May. “This guide reflects Ottawa’s dedication to creating meaningful change within the meetings and events industry,” said Lesley Pincombe, vice-president, business and major events at Ottawa Tourism.

The Sustainability Sourcing Compass, developed by the Exhibitor Advocate in partnership with Reduce 2, is a new practical framework tailored to help exhibit and event professionals meet the growing demand for sustainability. This open-source tool provides ready-to-use, customisable language to include in exhibit and event RFPs for sustainability-related requirements. The tool also contains contract-ready verbiage to enforce sustainability criteria post-supplier selection.

MGM Resorts International has announced it has offered a new contract to its CEO and president Bill Hornbuckle (pictured). The new deal will be valid through 31 December, 2028 and includes an agreement for Hornbuckle to then take on an advisory role to assist with MGM Resorts’ integrated resort project in Osaka, Japan until its opening.

Hyve Group, the global B2B events organiser, has announced its acquisition of Manifest – a key industry event connecting the supply chain and logistics ecosystem. The acquisition is Hyve’s third strategic acquisition in the last 12 months following the acquisition of POSSIBLE and HLTH. The move also positions Hyve in the US logistics sector, which is forecast to grow to $109.3bn by 2030 (up from $43.1bn in 2021). Hyve says it expects to replicate, scale and bring the Manifest model to Europe.
