    Bassist Tony Levin has worked with some of the biggest names in music, such as John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Dire Straits, Carly Simon and Judy Collins. He’s a long-time member of the band King Crimson and his association with rocker Peter Gabriel dates back more than 40 years.  When he’s not performing arena shows with rock royalty, Levin is often on tour with his brother Pete Levin, playing a different kind of music in much smaller venues.

    Local art lovers have access to galleries and exhibits in Midtown and downtown Sacramento. But there’s another opportunity just east of town that might be the most accessible of all. Why is the Mills Station Arts and Culture Center in Rancho Cordova — also known as the MACC — so accessible? First, admission is free. And second, it’s right next to a Sacramento Regional Transit light rail station and bus hub and has loads of free parking. Getting there isn’t a problem.

That’s what happened to the vocal ensemble säje (rhymes with “beige”) in 2020. After 40 years of featuring musicians, poets, comedians and visual artists at his namesake café in Midtown, Art Luna is calling it quits. With its stage surrounded on three sides by the audience, Luna’s has provided a very intimate experience for performers and patrons alike since its opening on Aug. 8, 1983.
