Aug. 8, 2023Updated: Aug. 8, 2023 2:10 p.m. The Connecticut Ice college hockey tournament will return next season and continue through at least the 2025-26 season, the state schools announced Tuesday. The fourth edition of the tournament will be played at Hartford's XL Center on Jan. 26-27. UConn is hosting reigning national champion Quinnipiac along with Sacred Heart and Yale. Sacred Heart will host in 2024-25 and Yale in 2025-26. The games will be televised by SNY.

The venue was mostly empty Monday, but those in attendance did see a 20-point performance from highly-touted freshman guard Stephon Castle. The Georgia native led the Huskies, shooting 7 of 12 from the floor and 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Tristen Newton added 16 points with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. Alex Karaban also had 16 points, while Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer had 13 points and eight rebounds. Donovan Clingan had nine points and six assists.
