Before the days of emails and text, rugby players like Pontypool hooker Bobby Windsor were told to prepare for the pinnacle of their careers, a British & Irish Lions Tour, with a letter through the post. The steelworker had only earned Wales selection earlier that season, making his debut against Australia in Cardiff in November 1973. But after impressive performances in the Five Nations, Lions selectors enquired as to Windsor’s availability for the 1974 Tour to South Africa.

Dallaglio won the 2003 Rugby World Cup (Image: Premier Sports/©INPHO/Laszlo Geczo) HENRY Pollock might be the rising young star of rugby union but for World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio, it is his old-school nature that is the most appealing aspect of the Northampton Saints’ flanker’s rise. Still only 20, Pollock made a two-try debut for England in a record win over Wales in Cardiff and has carried that form back to club duty with Saints.

Looking at the below from Charlie, part of me wonders whether Jamie George will end up starting at hooker against Argentina in the first match of the Lions Tour Even if a six-day turnaround is possible, it's a big ask in the front row where every hooker and TH could play a final

Am told Lions involved in the Premiership or URC finals on June 14 *can* play against Argentina on June 20. Would expect loads to be managed carefully for anyone on a six-day turnaround, obviously. Leinster-Glasgow URC final (16 Lions potentially involved) makes it interesting.
